Meet Your Consultant

Stephanie Fillyaw is a graduate of the Masters of International Studies program at the University of South Carolina and holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Queens University of Charlotte, a small private university in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina's picturesque Myers Park. She also holds certifications in Lean Six Sigma (University of Georgia) and Diversity Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace (University of South Florida).

Step cut her teeth in retail operations, managing stores for two major big box companies, Target and Lowe’s, deep diving into professional development, driving sales, delighting the customer and other key metrics needed to successfully run $29-45M stores. Here she discovered her passion for developing others and creating career pathways for employees and gained a reputation of integrity and creative solutions.

After success in retail, Stephanie matriculated into corporate America, serving McMaster-Carr Supply and McKinsey & Company in various capacities including operations, program management, creating and implementing inclusive strategies in talent acquisition and employee relations. During her time with McKinsey & Company, Stephanie trained colleagues on affinity recruiting strategies, sourced, case coached and cultivated a combination of over 200 prospects within a year.

Outside of solving problems, Stephanie enjoys traveling the world and is fulfilled by free-lance writing, teaching and training others, motivational speaking, and pouring into MusiqTruth Entertainment LLC.

Out of a desire to serve, Business Black Consulting was launched, offering a suite of client services around small business enhancement, financial literacy and career development.

Stephanie is a member of the National Senior Honors Society (Mortar Board), the National Theater Honors Society (Alpha Psi Omega), and the National Political Science Honors Society (Pi Sigma Alpha).
